In 2001, my life changed in an instant. A car accident left me with chronic pain, relentless tension, and overwhelming anxiety. At first, I believed that with time and the right treatments, I would heal.
I tried everything—physical therapy, massage, acupuncture, and chiropractic care. Each provided temporary relief, but the pain always crept back. Doctors handed me prescriptions for pain pills and muscle relaxers, but they only made me feel sick and drained the little energy I had left. I started to wonder if I would ever feel normal again.
Then, in 2003, I discovered Yamuna® Body Rolling (YBR®)—and everything changed.
At first, I was skeptical. How could rolling on a ball do what nothing else had? But from the moment I placed my body on the soft, inflatable ball and followed the method’s structured approach, I felt something shift. YBR wasn’t just about massaging tight muscles—it was about realigning my body, releasing stored tension, and giving me control over my healing process.
A New Approach to Healing
Unlike other methods I had tried, YBR worked systematically, by following the logic and order of the body and natural pathways of my muscles and bones. I learned how to:
Stimulate my bones and joints to create space and restore alignment.
Release deep-seated tension that had been stuck in my body since the accident.
Lengthen muscles from origin to insertion instead of just pressing on tight spots.
Breathe deeply into areas of restriction, helping my nervous system shift from stress to relaxation.
The first time I rolled out my spine, I felt an immediate sense of relief—like I was unwinding years of compression and pain. As I continued practicing, my headaches diminished, my neck, back and shoulders loosened, and my anxiety became more manageable. I could finally sleep without waking up in pain. My posture and movement improved, and for the first time in years, I felt at home in my body again.
The Lasting Impact of YBR
Yamuna Body Rolling didn’t just help me heal—it empowered me. It gave me the knowledge and tools I could use anytime, anywhere, to manage my own pain and tension. I no longer felt dependent on therapists, doctors, or medications. Instead, I had a practice that put my well-being in my own hands.
That experience set me on a new path—one that led me to yoga therapy, movement education, and ultimately, a mission to help others find relief from pain, stress, and trauma. YBR wasn’t just a technique; it was a lifeline. In 2004 - 2005, I trained with Yamuna Zake and became a certified YBR® practitioner. Over time, I completed further training for Yamuna Foot Fitness, YBR in Bed, YBR for Face, Scoliosis, and Pelvic Floor Health, and Yamuna Table Treatments. In 2018, I was chosen by Yamuna to be one of her YBR Teacher Trainers and in 2019 I began training with Yamuna Zake in her signature practice, Body Logic.

Yamuna® Body Rolling (YBR®)
Yamuna® Body Rolling is a therapeutic self-care practice that uses specifically designed balls to apply gentle, targeted pressure along the bone, tendon, muscle chains to help unwind tension, improve circulation, influence posture, restore pain-free range of motion and enhance overall body awareness. The practice follows a unique methodology of bone stimulation and working from origin to insertion of muscles, ensuring a comprehensive approach to releasing restrictions and restoring natural movement patterns.
Everywhere you have muscle connecting from one place to the next; this is the path along which YBR® takes you. The Yamuna ball becomes the hands of the therapist and the person’s weight creates the traction, movement, pressure and release on the ball - this is the unique magic of Yamuna Body Rolling!
Yamuna® Table Treatment
Yamuna® Table Treatment elevates the Yamuna Body Rolling experience to an entire new level. Using the generalized body weight of the Yamuna practitioner to apply gentle pressure and traction into the client’s body and into the Yamuna ball through the practitioner’s hands to achieve greater length, tone and freedom of movement throughout the body. The Yamuna balls stimulate and energize bone, release muscle tension and restriction, increase blood flow, and act as a fulcrum to allow deeper work into joints, while supporting and stabilizing the joints.
The sequence of the table session follows the natural logic and order of the body, using the basic principles of all of the Yamuna® work . The constant goal of the Yamuna practitioner is to assist in correcting alignment of bones and muscles throughout the body to restore the client’s freedom of movement.
People get off the table and know they have had a session. You can see the changes almost immediately. The legs feel freer, the hips are looser, the torso is longer, and head feels lighter and floating upward. Clients love this work!
