Core Integrity Yoga for Radical Recovery

Core Integrity Yoga for Radical Recovery is a trauma-informed, evidence-based holistic practice designed to support individuals on their journey toward sobriety and healing. This holistic approach integrates the principles of yoga, mindfulness, and self-compassion with proven recovery methodologies, including Yoga of 12-Step Recovery (Y12SR) and Recovery Dharma.

This practice focuses on:

Restoring Balance: Gentle and restorative poses (asana) help to release physical tension, build strength, and increase flexibility, promoting overall well-being.

Emotional Regulation: Breathing techniques (pranayama) and mindfulness meditations cultivate inner peace, reduce anxiety, and foster emotional resilience.

Empowerment Through Awareness: By creating a safe and non-judgmental space, participants are encouraged to connect with their True Self, explore their inner potential, and find purpose and meaning in their recovery journey.

Community Connection: Group settings offer shared experiences and mutual support, helping participants to build healthy relationships and strengthen their sobriety.

Whether you're in the early stages of recovery or seeking to deepen your commitment to a sober lifestyle, Core Integrity Yoga for Radical Recovery provides tools for self-care, healing, and transformation. This practice nurtures the mind, body, and spirit, empowering individuals to rebuild their lives from the inside out with strength, clarity, hope and purpose.

  • Core Integrity Yoga for Radical Recovery combines yoga with principles of addiction recovery to create a holistic healing experience. Unlike traditional yoga classes, it incorporates mindfulness, trauma-informed practices, and tools from evidence-based recovery programs like Recovery Dharma and Y12SR. The focus is not just on physical poses but on emotional regulation through movement and breathing practices (pranayama), meditation, mantra and mudras, cultivating self-awareness, cultivating courage and confidence and building a supportive holistic recovery community.

  • Y12SR is a practice that combines yoga, the principles of 12-step programs, and group discussions to address addiction on a physical, mental, and spiritual level. You don’t need to be part of a 12-step program to join; the practice is open to anyone interested in recovery. The emphasis is on creating a safe, nonjudgmental space for healing and growth.

  • Recovery Dharma is a peer-led recovery program that uses Buddhist principles, including mindfulness and meditation, to support addiction recovery. In yoga classes inspired by Recovery Dharma, participants practice asanas (poses) alongside meditations focused on the Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold Path. This integration helps individuals build self-awareness, compassion, and resilience in their recovery journey.

  • Core Integrity Yoga supports recovery by addressing the mind-body connection disrupted by addiction.

    • Physical Benefits: Core Integrity Yoga helps release tension, rebuild physical strength, and calm the nervous system.

    • Emotional Regulation: Breath-work (pranayama), movement and mindfulness practices reduce cravings, stress, and anxiety, and rebuild strength and resilience.

    • Spiritual Growth: It encourages self-reflection and helps participants reconnect with their sense of purpose and inner peace, and fosters self-awareness and a deeper connection to the Divine and their True Self. Core Integrity Yoga complements many other recovery tools and integrates well into 12-Step programs.

  • Trauma-informed practices in Core Integrity Yoga for Radical Recovery, Y12SR, Recovery Dharma and Yoga Warriors™ focus on creating a safe, supportive, and empowering environment. This includes:
